Instruction Guide: How to Drain AquaBeads®

AquaBeads® are ready-to-use, high-moisture gel beads designed to support early hydration and feed discovery in hatchlings. Applied as a top-dress to starter feed at placement, AquaBeads® help attract chicks and poults to feed and water, improving early performance and reducing mortality.

To preserve their moisture and texture during storage and transport, AquaBeads® are packed in a protective brine solution. This brine keeps the beads fresh and free-flowing—but before use, a quick drain ensures the ideal consistency for application.

Draining Instructions

1. Remove the Lid and Drill Drainage Holes

Remove the lid from the AquaBeads® pail. Using a 1/4-inch drill bit or smaller, drill at least 15 holes into the lid. This lid can be reused for each pail you are draining.

2. Reattach the Lid, Invert, and Drain

Secure the lid firmly back onto the pail. Turn the pail upside down to allow the brine to drain out. This typically takes just a few minutes.

3. Ready to Use

Once drained, AquaBeads® are ready for application. Check out the dosage calculation guide and application instructions guide to explore next steps.

This quick draining process helps you get the most out of AquaBeads®—no mess, no extra equipment, and no delays. Just drain and apply for consistent, clean delivery every time. Learn more about AquaBeads® and explore all of our resources here.
